Privacy Notice

Who we are

Halifax Innovation Studio is an independent studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is not affiliated with any university or employer.

What we collect

If you use our feedback form, we collect:

• Your answers.
• Your email address — only if you choose to provide it.

Across the site, we also record:

• Aggregate visit counts and traffic source (e.g., which community a link was shared in), to understand which channels reach PMO practitioners.

We use no cookies for advertising or analytics. Our security provider may set a strictly necessary cookie to tell visitors apart from bots.

Why we collect it

• To decide which proposed resources to build first.
• To reply to you, if you asked for a reply or a future preview.

That is the whole purpose.

Who else handles it

A few service providers help us run this site. They handle information only on our behalf, and only for the purposes above:

• Tally — hosts our feedback form and stores the responses submitted through it.
• Vercel — hosts the site and provides our cookieless, aggregate visit counts.
• Cloudflare — provides DNS and the anti-bot check on our form, which exists to stop spam submissions.
• Resend — delivers your form submission to us as an email, and keeps a copy of the message in its sending logs for up to 30 days.
• Google (Gmail) — hosts the mailbox where your message reaches us, and where any reply lives.

Vercel, Cloudflare, Resend, and Google are based in the United States; Tally is based in Belgium and stores form responses in the European Union. Your information may therefore be processed and stored outside Canada, and may be accessible to courts or authorities in those countries under their laws.

What we never do

• We never sell your information or share it for another organization's own purposes. The providers listed under “Who else handles it” process it only for us.
• We do not add you to a mailing list or send marketing unless you separately and expressly opt in.

Any future commercial email will identify us as the sender and include a working unsubscribe.

Where your information lives, and for how long

• Feedback-form responses are stored in our form provider's account (Tally, in the EU) and in the mailbox they reach us at. Both copies are deleted within 12 months.
• Discovery-form submissions reach us as an email. They live in that mailbox and, for up to 30 days, in our email delivery provider's sending logs. The mailbox copy is deleted within 12 months unless our exchange continues; the provider copy expires on its own within 30 days.
• If you asked for a reply, the email exchange is kept as ordinary correspondence and deleted when no longer needed.
• If you consented to a reply or preview, we keep a small consent record — your email, the time, and the exact wording you agreed to — for 3 years after the consent is withdrawn or last relied on, then delete it. Records of a withdrawal itself are kept so your choice stays honoured.

Your choices

Anytime, you can:

• Withdraw your consent.
• Ask what we hold about you.
• Ask us to delete it.

We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and anti-spam law (CASL).

Who is responsible

Privacy at Halifax Innovation Studio is overseen by our Privacy Lead. To ask a question, or to access, correct, or delete your information, email [email protected] or write to Halifax Innovation Studio, PO Box 2099, Dartmouth Tacoma, NS B2W 3X8. We respond to access requests within 30 days.

Complaints

If you believe we've handled your information improperly, tell us at the same address — we investigate every complaint, and if it's justified we'll fix the practice and tell you what changed.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
